Epidermis ( cuticle or scarf skin ) - the top layer of the skin basically 0.03 inch ( 0.5 mm ) , 0.002 inch on the eyelids and from 0.8 to 0.12 inch on the soles. Consist of five layers : Stratum Germinativum, Stratum Spinosum, Stratum Granulosum, Stratum Lucidum, Stratum Corneum.
